How to Overcome the Negative Voice in Your Head – Alternative GQ Editorial Cover
This self-initiated illustration was created as an alternative editorial cover for GQ, inspired by the article “How to Overcome the Negative Voice in Your Head” by Clay Skipper. The article discusses the role of inner dialogue and the psychological toll of negative self-talk, offering insights from psychologist Ethan Kross.
In this conceptual piece, I visualised the mind as a densely populated inner world, one filled with anxious, overthinking faces crowding the brain, capturing the often-overwhelming nature of our inner critic. The figure, dressed in stylised patterns, is calm on the outside but carries a heavy internal dialogue. The side-profile cutaway evokes medical illustration while drawing from modern editorial aesthetics, blending clarity with emotional depth.
